Go out and travel

Going out

October… and autumn is already with us.  While the leaves on the trees are gradually turning red and fading, our brochure SORTIR! is coming back to life with a new programme of outings which are open to everyone.

Make the most of the gardens at this time of the year, when they are covered in purples and golden browns, by escaping into the heart of the parks of Chantilly in Oise, Caillebotte in Essonne, or the arboretem of the Ecole du Breuil in Paris.

The weather is still mild enough for beautiful walks:  you will love the guided tour of the Issy Fort,  the theme-based tours in the Marais or in the heart of the Malesherbes quarter, in Paris. If the weather is not so good, take a plunge into history, under cover, with a guided tour organised at the Saint-Denis Basilica or the Sainte-Chapelle in Paris, in the Nissim museum of Camondo or  Cognacq-Jay, and much more….

And when the winter blues begin to set in, think of good food and attend one of our food related events : cooking workshops at the Atelier Gourmand in Issy-les-Moulineaux, a tea party-conference « les Provinciaux à Paris » at the Café Bofinger, a gastronomic and theatrical voyage at the  restaurant Reminisens in Versailles, The Herring and scallop fair, in Dieppe. Lots of comfort to hand!

Seek comfort, but also, have fun!  This season, the curtain rises at the Seine Musicale on the Nutcracker, presented by the National Ballet of China. Other shows such as the Chanteur de Mexico at the Enghien Casino, or the wonderful Cirque du Soleil show,  TOTEM … all these will help put your worries behind you…

To add a finishing touch to this programme, to help you prepare for the Christmas holidays: Strasbourg’s famous Christmas market – a trip by train, there and back in a day.

As we approach the end of the commemorations of the hundredth anniversary of the Armistice, spend a day in October in the heart of the Armistice Glade in Compiègne, and do not miss the guided tour of the Great War Museum in Meaux.

Lastly, the Tourist and Leisure Office is planning the second edition of its Food Tour on the occasion of the « Week of Taste » in October, organised in partnership with Issy locals.

We hope you enjoy reading our news and look forward to welcoming you very soon to the Maison du Tourisme et des Loisirs !
